For Moms

Many of my clients are mothers. With all the focus on the joy of becoming a parent and all the things we need for the newborn, we often forget that the having a baby and becoming a parent is a big transition for women. And, as the children get older, their role continues to shift. Many of my clients find themselves struggling with one or more of the following during the course of raising children:

  • Stress
  • Reassessing goals, values and priorities
  • Motherhood is not as they expected
  • Discipline
  • Body Image
  • Conflict with spouse over parenting, money, chores, intimacy
  • Changing role as children get older and more independent
  • Painful memories from childhood resurface
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

If any of the above sound familiar, now may be a good time to invest in therapy for yourself. Even if your spouse/partner doesn’t want to come to therapy, changing the way you respond may change the dynamic in your relationship. Addressing your own stress, negative thoughts and feelings in therapy will go a long way in helping you be the parent, partner and woman you want to be.
